How a Composting Toilet Works A conventional toilet uses clean water with every flush and needs a sewer or septic connection, which can be costly or simply not possible on many tiny home sites. A composting toilet needs neither. This short explainer from Green Loo shows how it works: • Waste collects in a chamber where natural microorganisms break it down. • Excess liquid drains away from the solids, keeping the system balanced and odour-free. • A low-energy fan draws air through the system, removing moisture and smells. • Over time the material becomes compost that can return nutrients to the soil. There are two main types: • Split systems — the composting chamber sits under the floor, giving higher capacity and longer gaps between servicing, with a ceramic pedestal above. • Self-contained systems — the chamber is inside the floor-mounted unit, ideal for tiny homes with little or no under-floor clearance. Based in Burleigh Heads, QLD, Green Loo is Australia's largest composting toilet manufacturer, with more than 25 years in waterless sanitation and delivery Australia-wide. This is what a complete imported expandable home transport solution looks like. Red Tow and Container Solutions were contracted to manage the entire logistics operation for this 30ft imported expandable home, starting with the 40ft FCL import container coming off the wharf. The project included collecting the FCL, bringing it to our facility, unpacking the 30ft expandable home and loose contents, and then de-hiring the empty shipping container. The real challenge came next. Rather than simply lifting the large module, we used our specialised SuperTilt and Reach Stacker combination to unload the expandable home from the shipping container with full control throughout the operation. This method allows the module to be carefully extracted and transferred onto the SuperTilt while minimising unnecessary handling. Because the expanded module was over 20ft long, our 8x4 crane truck could not transport it directly. Instead, we used the SuperTilt for the initial transport, then brought in our large 43TM Effer Crane Truck to cross-load the module onto the 8x4. From there, the module was transported to its final destination, where the 43TM Effer crane lifted it from the truck and precisely placed it onto the pre-prepared concrete platforms. One project. Multiple specialised machines. One coordinated operation. This is specialist Expandable Home, Modular Home, Portable Building and Tiny Home logistics — from import container to final placement. Red Tow & Container Solutions provide specialist FCL unpacking, container handling, SuperTilt transport, heavy crane transport, modular building transport and precision crane placement throughout Melbourne and Victoria. 📞 Red Tow: 0407 733 869 📧 info@redtow.com.au 🌐 www.redtow.com.au 📞 Container Solutions: 0499 566 929 📧 transport@containersolutions.com.au 🌐 www.containersolutions.com.au
